The COVID-19 virus has wreaked extensive devastation since its’ emergence in late December of 2019. The virus’s rapid spread has had a significant impact on people who are more vulnerable than others, particularly people over the age of 60 and those with a history of heart and lung illness.

Till today, the virus has infected hundreds of millions of people, therefore, knowing how Covid — 19 spreads enable you to take the necessary precautions to avoid becoming ill and infecting others.

Covid — 19 virus spreads commonly when an infected person comes into close contact with other people. Sneezing, coughing, or even just talking can cause virus-containing droplets to disseminate into the air, possibly contaminating others.

Being in close contact with an infected person and breathing in their contaminated air has the biggest risk of contracting the virus. Thus, keeping a specific distance from others prevents you from getting it.

In some cases, the virus can survive being hung in the air for an extended length of time. Experts have found that the Covid-19 virus may survive in the air for up to three hours, potentially contaminating a large number of individuals.

Airborne transmission is most frequent in houses due to the enclosed nature of the room and, at times, insufficient ventilation. Therefore, keeping a distance or wearing a mask inside the household can reduce the rates of airborne transmission of the virus.

In rare situations, one might become infected by having direct contact with surfaces where the virus dwells. The most commonly handled things that might catch the virus include doorknobs, light switches, stair rails, and even cellphones.

Although the infection is thought to be low, transmission is still a possibility. As a result, thoroughly disinfecting these objects and surfaces, as well as washing your hands afterward, is critical to avoiding virus contamination.

To summarize, Covid — 19 is a contagious virus that may be transmitted from person to person, through the air, or by contacting objects contaminated with the virus. The most essential thing is to restrict your interaction with others, wear a mask anytime you’re out in public, and remain at least 2 meters away from others.

Furthermore, wash your hands for at least 20 seconds and disinfect surfaces that may be infected with the virus. Understanding how this virus transmits will help to reduce the rising number of cases and fatalities caused by it; hence, knowing how it spreads will protect you as well as your loved ones.
